Since I have started the A+ training, I had no prior knowledge of hardware components or how to build a PC. However by fantastic support and advice from my tutors and the study materials I have been able to gain a better understanding. This has enabled me to fix my old PC back together by installing additional memory and up-to-date components to the PC, in order for it to work faster and more efficiently. Therefore in the future I can apply my knowledge gained throughout this hardware course to real life situations and it will definately benefit my future IT career aspirations.

When I first started this course, I thought that I was looking at a long way to reach the top. Only last week, I applied for a work position with Microsoft and wrote a covering letter to them explaining that I was currently studying for MCSA. They called me in for an interview and talked to me about the position they required. They were pleased with the interview and so called me back for a second time. When I went for my second interview, they mentioned to me that they wanted me to work in a general admin office position, which I was pleased with, and happily requested that I complete my course so they could move my position to a computing administrator for the company. I am extremely pleased with the outcome, and I know without skillstrain, I May never have been able to even get this far. Today I am so glad that I dialled that number that got me here, thanks skillstrain!

Taking the course was the best decision I made. I have learnt so much from the course which has put me a head of my fellow colleagues, technically.

I have started my course with Skills Train just over a year now and although I have had previous computer knowledge from completing the CIW qualification, I must admit through studying the N+ and the MCSA Windows Server 2002/2003, has given me exceptional knowledge about computer hardware/software and computer network which is what I enjoy doing, hence why I decided to embark on this course. Not only that, finding a college to fit my working and private life around wasn\'t easy until when I discovered Skills Train, and holding down a full time job within a busy environment such as the police my current employer and supporting a family whilst giving 100% to a very intense course with a lot to take in isn\'t very easy. But nonetheless, through hard work and dedication I can safely say that I am almost finish and with a lot of confidence to pass my exams. I am also proud to say as a result of studying the N + and MCSA Windows Server 2002/2003 I have recently had an interview internally as a Communication Officer, awaiting result, and I am also having another interview next week also internal as a Computer Forensic Investigator. I thought progression such as this worth sharing as I haven\'t had an interview in a long time let alone two in two weeks. Many thanks to Skills Train and its Tutors.

I think determination is the key to every success story. You just need to decide that you want to make it and I tell you, you will do it without realising you have done it.
Age, colour, how long you have been out of school and nothing should be able to stop you from pursuing what you think will shape your future.

Not so many years ago I enrolled on a 2 year home study course with Napier University, studying for a HNC in management.
I had a feeling it was going to be quite tough as I had not studied for a minimum of 10 years and coming from the South of England communication with Scottish Tutors on the phone was going to be a challenge.
I used to watch Mastermind on TV and when the buzzer went at the end of a round the presenter always said "I HAVE STARTED SO I WILL FINISH" those few words stuck in the back of my mind as the course went on.
In the second year of the course I was made redundant, separated from my wife and relocated with my new job, I was ready to quit and I only had about 5 month to go.
I contacted my old study partner before I moved away for a chat and told him I was ready to quit, he was very quick to remind me "I HAVE STARTED SO I WILL FINISH" we talked more and kept in contact and 5 months later graduated.
I still think of that phrase now as I start this course another 10 years down the road.
Stick at it guys and girls you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I've spent hours and hours working towards my dream goal of obtaining a professional qualification and becoming certified. My dedication and sheer will to succeed has contributed to my 100% record so far in my TMA. This course has helped me over many barriers that before I could not have climbed. The more problems I am able to solve the more I want to spend time with my studies and continue to grow. I spend 8 hours a day working and 2 hours travelling. Still I am able to find the motivation to spend time with my studies. Thank you skills train.

I can still remember that faithful day day when the postman handed over the mighty RED file, I wondered. Breez of discouragement blew on me, I said to myself where will I start from.
I postponed the start day for some weeks, finally I started, it was hell for me I did not understand what they were talking about. I heted everything I even blamed myself for signing up for the course.
Let me cut the story short, the story has changed, I can now see myself as an adminstrator in the making. I love the course and I am happy that I choosed the course.
The question is, what have I acheaved in this few weeks. The way the cause is design is so fantastis that you cannot forget what you have learnt, because you must have gone through one form of practical or the other, that makes the whole process easy to remember.
One of the greatest achievent is this, I have had my personal computer re- instaled on two occations just because I could not deal with the problem. And you know what it is to re- instal your computer, all data lost. But this are little problems that you can tackle, but I didn't know, but now I know what to do.
Though I have not finished my cause but I see the life of a computer as simple as anything. Just like the Doctor will not panic over a patient, that is how I have become. I am gradually becoming a doctor not to my computer only but all the computers that will come my way.
Finally, internet security is the main priority of an administrator just like I have learnt, I have been able to explain to friends what they should look out when using the internet for shopping. This has helped a great deal.

Hi there,
My story (in brief) goes like this: I have a medical condition called epilepsy, which from the years 2001 to 2004 was totally out of control, for 4 years I had no quality of life – and I spent more time in hospital than I did at home. My memory was in effect "wiped clean" of all the computing skills and qualifications that I had worked so hard for in the years previous to 2001.
However, when my condition was finally controlled by new medication it was like being set free in many ways, and I was determined to regain my lost education. After lots of research (and worry from my family that it might be too much) I decided to go for the MCSA course. Doing this course has helped me to achieve my goals. My memory works best "by association" and learning in this way has brought back an abundance of memories and "repaired" them regarding my IT skills.
A couple of weeks ago I finally completed and uploaded the last page of my own support website that I created especially for other people with epilepsy, who May be going through what I went through, it's my way of "giving something back."
As for recent configuration work, my failing hard drive "died" on me in early January, so I bought a new one, installed it and for the first time felt confident enough to perform and carry out a successful clean install of Windows XP Pro by myself – and it worked!
During the past month I have gained scores of 100% and 98% for 2 different assessments and I can't put into words how much I feel that I have achieved with the challenges I set myself in this way.
