I believe the course is getting very much interesting now as I progress from one lesson to the other. Initially I was wondering how I would be able cope because of my tight schedules. The lesson notes are well simplified for easy comprehension. Well done to the tutors and staff of Skill Train.

Hi,
My name is Steve Watkins, 40 years of age and for me the true success of this course was to start it in the first place. Having been a Technophobe for a long time and not knowing the first thing about computers, I summoned up the courage to send my first E-mail (and for those of you in the same boat you know how scary that can be!)
I have just completed TMA03 with an 80% pass mark and although I am just at the start of this course I cannot explain the sheer euphoria at getting this far so quickly and earning so much (Even my typing has improved to 50 wpm)
I have recommended this course to people that I know and would encourage anyone who is on this course to KEEP ON GOING and don't give up. Apart from taking my driving test 20 years ago, I believe this course to be the best financial investment I have made.... ever. The tutor team are the best, they have encouraged not only myself but others as well to carry on and realise our dreams of a better lifestyle, success, and financial stability in this, the largest industry on the planet (and growing daily). So, stop grappling with the gremlins and go on as you mean to. Thanks for looking.
Steve

Not a story, more a method that works for me. BEFORE LOOKING AT THE SECTION, have a go at the TMA (IN THE FOLDER, Not th CD!) first! WHY? Gives you an idea what your going to need to remember since retention from text is so difficult without any practicals, also lets you know what you already know for those who don't know! lol! After that, work through the chapter(s) precedding it, retaining as much as you can (not when you're half asleep cos some section sent me to sleep!) then, while the info is still fresh, have another go at the TMA. If you are happy with the answers this time round, that's when you submit on-line. If you are truely honest, go back and look for the correct answers
AFTER you have submitted your TMA. you'll know what result to expect and understand why. There have been several occasions when I have submitted a TMA only to be told that the answers that I first came up with were correct BEFORE reading through the chapters involved! I hate that!! Have fun!
and MERRY X-MAS!

I am nearly 60 and have been in electronic repairs all my working life. Recently I attended a one day workshop on website design and became totally engrossed in the subject. I am wanting to change my career now as electronics has lost its interest for me. I have been looking around for ways to further my interest in web design and came across an advertisement for Skillstrain. My enquiry was dealt with speedily and I have found that the way the study material is laid out makes it very easy to study, even at my age. I look forward to completing the course and gaining my qualifications.

I have found the course very interesting it has helped me fill in the black holes of knowledge about computers such as networking, and other bits and piece. Even though I did bad the first time I tried it again and I succesed in doing the first part of my course.

I HAVE JUST COMPLETED TMA 14 AND MY RESULT WAS 96% AND NOW I'VE JUST SENT MY TMA 15 AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS SO FAR, I COULD NOT BELIEVE AT FIRST HOW WELL I HAVE DONE WITH THE COURSE SINCE I STARTED IT, LOWEST GRADE SO FAR THROUGHOUT THE COURSE HAS BEEN 74% AND MY HIGHEST 100% WHICH I HAVE FOUND GIVES ME THE INCENTIVE TO CARRY ON AND COMPLETE THE COURSE AND CONTINUE TO ACHIEVE THE GRADES THAT I HAVE SO FAR.

The past month has actualy been so hectic . I have first off showed my computer illiterate sister how to actualy use her computer an set up a new email addy for there small home based buisness. and recently ive started work on a full website for a joinery company based in paisley which includes the whole layout an all the graphics to do with the website aswell and im really pleased ( as are they ) about the way its progressed an will progress because I keep them in the loop everyday so they know exactly whats going on which I feel builds up a better relationship that way. and started designing posters for a local event for people I went to collage with last year. so ive been quite proud of myself . ive not sent a rocket to the moon . or climbed everest but ive started doing more than I thought, I mean I couldnt have imagined me making an entire website this time last month . so this is my personal acheivement. thanx for your time.

I started my CIW course about 14 months ago, I have never done any sort of programming before so I found it quite difficult to start with, after about 4 months my 31 year old brother was diagnosed with Leaukemia. This put a stop to my studying for about 5 month as he passed away 3 months after being diagnosed. However he did say to me that what I needed to do was get my head round it, pass the course and get a better paid job which I would enjoy a lot more than what I do now. Once I had come to terms a little with what had happened, I started back on my course. I am now just about to complete Part 2 where I believe I will then get my revision questions to see exactly how much I've taken in. So the only thing I need to do now is do what he asked and complete the course and make him proud.

In October I moved over to Northern Ireland and moved jobs, with the pressure of moving house and jobs AND also moving to a different country I still managed to consistently study and submit my TMA's.
I feel now that I am getting into a rythm with my studies and as soon as I have the results back from my TMA I am able to submit a new one, because I have continued to study whilst waiting for my results.
Also within this time I managed to advise my girlfirends mother on what laptop & broadband to go for, now she is very confident in both using the PC and broadband....she now buys her shopping online!
I hope you appreciate that moving house and job AND country can be very stressfull and distracting but even with this I still managed to continue with my studies.
