Permanent IT jobs in more demand than contract workers

Permanent IT jobs are in more demand than temporary or contract positions, an organisation asserts.
Research produced by The IT Job Board shows more than half of respondents believe there are more of these positions available, which could be good news for IT training course graduates.
Three fifths of those replying to the survey were involved with contract work, with 40 per cent motivated by higher salaries.
Nearly half of those in a full-time position gave job security as the key reason why they had made this decision.
Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board, claims the current economic conditions give positive elements to both types of position.
He states: "It is positive to see the permanent IT jobs market remains buoyant. Employers continue to advertise permanent and contract positions and
we are still seeing a great deal of movement in the sector at all levels."
Mr Farrell says many people falsely believe that contract roles are those which are currently in greater demand.
Recent figures published by Eurocom found that one in ten companies are finding it difficult to recruit new employees, which could create opportunities for those who have completed IT training courses.
