Workers outside London can earn more

IT professionals can earn the highest hourly rates outside the capital although permanent staff still earn more within London, according to a new survey.
Recruitment firm IT Job Board has published the results of this year's salary survey which reveals the average earnings of those working in the information and communications sector across the UK.
The survey indicates that chief information officers are paid an average of £103,700 per year in London or an hourly wage of £57.
Colleagues in the south-east however earn an average £68 an hour with the East Midlands not far behind.
Lowest salaries were found amongst IT support staff in Wales at £19,300.
Just under half of the support staff surveyed said they had pension plans included in their wage, while nearly a quarter had private medical insurance.
According to the IT Job Board the salary guide was compiled from research gathered from February to April this year.
The recruitment site says the published report contains an overview of 15 of the most popular job titles including minimum, average and maximum salaries, as well as bonuses, health insurance and additional perks.
