Green IT projects not taking carbon pricing into account

Executives in charge of green IT initiatives in a third of companies are unsure whether these take carbon pricing into account, which could interest IT project manager course graduates.
Figures published by Gartner show 45.7 per cent of professionals say this consideration is not informing their employer's planning process.
In its report, the analyst advises that companies should begin constructing the processes and information systems before they are needed, which could create opportunities for IT project manager course graduates.
Simon Mingay, research vice president at Gartner, claims more enterprises are measuring these factors than are legally obliged to.
He states: "Regardless of actual or anticipated regulations, midsize and large enterprises should at least be building carbon information systems, because
pressure will come down the supply chain to be transparent about carbon emissions."
Clive Longbottom, principal analyst at Quocirca, recently told ZDNet Asia that company rollout of virtualisation can affect IT department infrastructure, potentially creating demand for IT project manager course graduates.
