CVs obtain interviews not jobs, expert warns

People applying for jobs after completing a CISCO distance learning course must remember that their CV should be targeted at getting them an interview, not the job, an expert asserts.

Senior consultant for The Write Stuff Peter Panayotou states that jobseekers must be aware of the 30-second test - the length of time a recruiter will read the document before deciding whether to continue with it.

He says it is important that the way a CV is presented results in an employer continuing to the end, which CISCO distance learning course graduates may be interested to discover.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar are all factors he claims can lead recruiters to discard applications.

Mr Panayotou says the CV must be user-friendly and easy to read, with the layout facilitating clarity and accessibility through features such as bullet points.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's recent report highlighted that a quarter of businesses expect to increase the number of staff they are hiring in the nearby future.ADNFCR-2238-ID-19074251-ADNFCR
