Virtualisation to require changes to companies networks

Network engineer course graduates could be in higher demand as more companies begin to roll out virtualisation technologies, an expert asserts.
Clive Longbottom, principal analyst at Quocirca, tells ZDNet Asia that businesses will look towards this solution as a way of reducing overheads but says this could have an impact on IT departments.
He states that firms where this takes place will require the implementation of virtual private networks, IP phones, PCs and software, which will put additional strain on IT resources.
Mr Longbottom tells the news provider that this can require changes to the data centres a business operates, which could increase demand for staff who have a completed network engineer course.
He comments: "Virtualisation allows you to not only consolidate existing applications onto fewer machines but also create a far more flexible environment where application images can dynamically grow and shrink with the workload needs."
Recent research published by IDC shows that technologies in the external storage sector have yet to achieve penetration, which could interest network engineer course graduates.
