Scottish IT partnership wins national contract

A joint venture between two IT companies has helped them win a three-year contract with the Scottish police.
Those looking for an IT training course may be interested to hear Infotech Enterprises, GGP Systems and Infoshare have successfully bid for a project aiming to provide a centralised directory for police services across the country.
Lothian and Borders Police are to oversee the contract's delivery, which will be led by Infotech Enterprises.
According to its website, other clients of the firm include the Department for Transport and the Home Office.
As prime contractor, Infotech Enterprises will work alongside GGP Systems and Infoshare to complete and implement a definitive "national location gazetteer" over a three-year term.
The gazetteer will provide precise details of properties in relation to police incidents around Scotland to create an up-to-date records database.
Tom Halpin, deputy chief constable in the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, said: "The new system will help us to identify precise locations and allocate the best equipped and nearest police patrol."
