Employers suspicious of CV gaps

Unemployed workers hunting for a job should remain active to ensure their CV looks full, says one careers expert.
Those looking to pursue IT home study may be interested to hear keeping busy through training or volunteering can boost job prospects.
Dave Berry comma a coach from the Careers Advice Service, said: "One of the worst things that anybody can have is a gap in their CV."
"Even if a person has been very actively engaged in seeking work, from an employer's perspective a gap in the CV might suggest they've simply been sat at home watching daytime TV," he added.
Anyone looking for an activity to complement an IT training course could look into a new government scheme, which aims to encourage more people to become involved in charity projects during the recession.
The National Talent Bank initiative will act as a go-between for employers who are reducing working hours and those organising volunteering projects.
