Cisco announces new unified computing system

A leading networking management and equipment firm has released a unified computing system (UCS), Cisco distance learning course graduates may be interested to discover.

Cisco's UCS combines physical and virtual resources with networking technology, a combination it claims is unique.

The project targets data centre managers and is expected to bridge the silos that characterise the design of these facilities.

It describes the advance's architecture as capable of uniting computer, network and storage access, along with virtualisation resources.

The company asserts: "We believe that there is an opportunity to provide unique, specialised solutions in the data centre that are different in form, customer benefits and business model than the current computing environment."

It states that the firm will continue to innovate in this field and expects to deliver more partnerships, products and services, creating further opportunities for those who have completed a Cisco distance learning course.

Recent research by the University of Michigan found that effective power management in data centre facilities can reduce energy consumption by three quarters.ADNFCR-2238-ID-19078892-ADNFCR
