Quality of data is essential for meeting customers needs

Those interested in an IT project manager course might benefit from advice suggesting that companies need to maximise the value of their data as well as ensure its accuracy.
The International Association for Information and Data Quality said that organisations should think about what aspects of the data they hold are most relevant to the company and its customers.
Daragh O Brien, director of publicity at the association, said that accuracy "only reflects a part of what information quality is about".
The focus should be on "ensuring that organisations are doing those things that are necessary to ensure that their information meets the needs of their internal processes, their external partners and ultimately their customers", he added.
Mr O Brien explained that maintenance of high quality data could take into consideration timeliness, definition, relevance, format and ease of use.
Commissioned by Pitney Bowes Business Insight, a recent report named the State of Data Quality Today, found that one third of businesses surveyed rated their data value as poor at best while only four per cent rated it as excellent.
