Online speeds continue to rise

The average broadband speed has now broken through the 4Mbps barrier, it has been revealed.

In news which may interest those considering online training courses, research carried out by internet information comparison website broadband.co.uk indicates the average nationwide speed now stands at 4.137 Mbps.

Group spokesperson Edd Dawson commented that one year ago mean speeds stood at around 3.2Mbps.

However, he added: "Although we should congratulate the industry for continuing to move forward we must not allow them to rest on their laurels."

Mr Dawson went on to say consumers are complaining more about their broadband speeds as more rich media is being consumed in comparison to a year ago and even as internet service providers add capacity they are struggling to keep up with their customers' expectations.

Earlier this week, Debra Yergen, author of the Creating Job Security Resource Guide, commented that online computer courses can help employment seekers improve their marketability in the current job sector.
