One typo enough to ruin job search

One typo enough to ruin job search

Just one error on a CV is enough to remove a candidate from consideration for a job, it has been revealed.

Research carried out by online recruitment specialist Accountemps indicates that 40 per cent of executives feel one slip-up is too many on a resume, while three-quarters think one or two typos is enough to rule out a jobseeker.

Chairman of the group Max Messmer commented that employers generally view the CV as a reflection of an applicant.

"If you make errors on your application materials, the assumption is you'll make mistakes on the job," he added.

The group pointed to bloopers recently recorded on the Scripps Howard News Service which included 'Dear Sir or Madman', 'Nervous of steel' and 'I'm attacking my resume for you to review'.

Last week, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported that CVs are not fixed documents and should reflect all the significant stages employees reach throughout their careers.
