North-east firms demand IT training course expertise

Demand for IT network engineer course graduates is increasing as fledgling software companies try to innovate their way out of the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to regional development agency One North East, an education sector providing exceptional technical and business expertise and an infrastructure is essential to meet the growing demands of the industry.

Head of European and skills strategy at the organisation Lesley Calder commented: "Demand for graduates in computing remains strong and businesses are increasingly reliant on top ICT talent."

John MacIntyre, dean of applied sciences at the University of Sunderland, which is running the Sunderland Software City education and innovation project to stimulate graduate enterprise, knowledge transfer and product development in research and development, added that the aim of the scheme is to stimulate companies and allow them to convert ideas into marketable software products.

Last week, IT solutions provider Genesis Communications stressed that employees with comprehensive IT training in Microsoft platforms are key to helping firms get the most out of the software giant's SharePoint product.
