Jobseekers face unprecedented challenges

Employment seekers need to use new techniques in order to find IT jobs in the current recruitment market, it has been claimed.

David Twiddle, chief executive of careers advisory service Renovo Careers, said the downturn has created the most challenging recruitment environment in a generation.

"The techniques used to find a job under these conditions are considerably different to those in more normal times," he added.

In addition, the company stated that jobseekers should focus on compiling a CV that will stand out in a competitive marketplace, prepare for interviews thoroughly, work with recruitment agencies and use online job search tools.

Mr Twiddle went on to say that the majority of career advice widely available is dated and redundant in today's economic climate.

Earlier this week, job board InovaHire.com claimed video recruitment interviews conducted live over the internet are becoming more common.

The company added that the online technology is being employed by growing numbers of corporations, in contrast to video resumes, which are regarded as being controversial.
