Job search requires new techniques

A candidate's objectives are less important than what they can bring to a company, it has been claimed.
Donna Sweidan, founder of recruitment specialist Careerfolk and an expert in Linkedin branding strategies, stated that it is important for candidates to seek out professional help to understand what is required of them.
She went on to say writing 'objectives' at the top of a resume can be costly, particularly in a competitive employment market
"Employers and hiring managers don't really care what you're looking for - they want to see what you've got to offer
and how you might make a difference," added Ms Sweidan.
She also commented that the need for candidates to market themselves and create a personal brand is becoming more important for jobseekers in the current economic climate.
Earlier this week Liz Ryan, a former Fortune 500 human resources executive, stated that making use of sales skills such as listening and responding carefully to questions can lead to success in job interviews.
