IT project management can improve employment chances

IT project management can improve employment chances

Technology professionals seeking a role with a new employer may benefit from taking on project work, it has been suggested.

Research carried out on behalf of recruitment agency Robert Half Technology found that 73 per cent of chief information officers feel it would be very or somewhat valuable for a prospective employee to work on a project or contract basis as a means of evaluation for full-time employment within their department, which may be of interest to IT project manager course graduates.

Dave Willmer, executive director at the organisation, commented: "In the current economic climate, companies are understandably cautious and want to avoid costly hiring mistakes.

"Bringing someone in on a project basis allows both the employer and the prospective hire to evaluate whether the position is a fit."

Earlier this week, Reed Learning claimed that e-learning programmes covering key topics including project management and presentation skills are increasing in demand in the current economic climate.
