IT firms should look for green shoots in private sector

Smaller companies will find clearer signs of recovery in the financial services industry than in the public sector, says a remote access specialist.
Colin Tankard, managing director of Digital Pathways, said that while there had been an increase in the number of major building projects commissioned, these government-funded projects would generally be awarded to larger companies.
A rise in demand from the private sector, in particular credit card data storage solutions, would be a more accurate sign of wider recovery, said Mr Tankard.
"Anything outside of government areas of investment at the moment we would see as positive," he added.
Reports from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development had suggested that many countries are already posting increased production levels.
Many governments are also said to be planning to improve long-term growth through investment in new technology such as smart, energy-saving devices.
