Connectivity demand continues to rise

The demand for job candidates with IT skills in Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wi-Max) technology is increasing despite the economic climate, it has been revealed.
According to not-for-profit organisation the WiMAX Forum, service providers currently cover around 430 million users globally and this number is increasing every month.
Scenna Tabesh, director of marketing communications at the group, commented that recent studies put global broadband household penetration at 23.3 per cent, meaning there is plenty of room for growth in the market.
She added: "It is proven to work, and can achieve impressive growth when backed by a serious operator. So, despite the continued global recession, Wi-Max business continues to grow."
Earlier this week, technology analyst Maravedis published a study indicating the average broadband wireless access/Wi-Max subscriber growth rate was 13 per cent over the fourth quarter of 2008 and showing that there has been a 75 per cent year-over-year growth rate since the first quarter of 2008.
