Cisco  launches security initiative

Telecommunications giant Cisco has launched an initiative to bolster network security infrastructure and the delivery of cloud services, it has been revealed.

In news which may interest Cisco distance learning course graduates, the move comes in response to a growing trend of companies extending connectivity outside their offices and businesses focusing on new ways to protect data and communications.

The group commented that as business applications, social media, software-as-a-service and wireless technologies gain widespread adoption new security threats tend to reveal themselves.

Vice president and general manager of security technology business unit at Cisco Tom Gillis commented: "In today's changing world, businesses require a security strategy that accounts for the physical, virtual, mobile and global aspects of their business."

Earlier this week, research carried out by IT industry analyst Frost and Sullivan indicated that the global network security market is set for significant growth over the next six years.
