Career brand key to successful job search

Creating a career brand gives jobseekers the best hope of finding their dream position in the current employment market, it has been claimed.

According to Robyn Feldberg, president of the National Resume Writers' Association, proven CV strategies exist that that will increase chances of securing an interview or negotiating a higher salary.

The group added that tailoring CVs to a particular position, making the most of work experience and putting together a functional resume can all help jobseekers achieve this end.

"Once your brand is created, make sure your resume, cover letter and any online presence is expressing it. If you're not consistently delivering a brand message, you might as well not have one. A good way to establish your brand through resume writing is with a professional summary," the company commented.

Ms Feldberg went on to say well-qualified new graduates are always likely to be in demand, but they must make sure their resumes communicate their value.

This week, James Charles wrote in the Times that personal statements should be placed near the top of CVs to attract the attention of potential employers.
