76% would seek extra IT training to improve job prospects

Three quarters of jobseekers would seek additional qualifications such as IT training courses as a way of finding a new role, a study reveals.
The NORAS 2009 survey, the largest online recruitment research project, finds that those willing to obtain accreditation of this sort are also more likely to use a wider range of methods and channels to search for work.
Giles Guest, managing director of study researcher Enhance Media, claims that companies are looking to target candidates willing to fill more complex and difficult roles.
He states: "In the current economic climate, the competition for vacancies has increased and candidates appear to be increasingly willing to expand their skills and search outside to get the job that they want."
The research involved 50,000 candidates who were using 31 online job boards.
A study conducted by The IT Job Board has found that three quarters of recruiters believe that studying an IT training course can improve a candidate's employability.
